Goal: Manage email communications security to protect against viruses, spam, phishing attacks, etc. while minimizing the blocking of legitimate emails.
Check Barracuda Logs:
- Email Gateway Defense (Email Security) / Reports
- Top Outbound Blocked Senders: list accounts that have been blocked from sending mail
- Email Gateway Defense (Email Security) / ATP Log / Suspicious
- Email Gateway Defense (Email Security) / Outbound Quarantine
- Email Gateway Defense (Email Security) / Overview / Message Log
- Filter: Inbound & Deferred
Barracuda Block or Exempt:
Rules can be applied either at an agency level (3H) or submitted to Barracuda.
3H: managed by 3H in a static manner and only applies to domains or specific email addresses.
Barracuda: exemptions can be managed by Barracuda support and will be integrated within their machine learning algorithms, but cannot be assured if, when and how block will be implemented.
- 3H: Email Gateway Defense (Email Security) / Inbound Settings / Sender Policies
- Block or Exempt at a domain level
- Barracuda: Email Gateway Defense (Email Security) / Overview / Message Log
- Filter: Inbound & Deferred
- Select email and select ‘Report as incorrectly blocked’
Exchange Blocked email:
Microsoft Exchange email service can also be incorrectly blocking emails. This is mostly the case for emails with attachments.
- Go to Microsoft Defender / Review / Quarantine / Email https://security.microsoft.com/quarantine
- To unblock an email select the email and Release
Note: Do not delete the email. The ‘Release by’ column offers a status and it will fall of the list after 30 days.
